≡ Emoticon-lookalike pics could win you $10,000
Every once in a while there is an online competition that really catches our fancy. This one is being run by Symantec, makers of the popular Norton series of consumer software.
What Symantec (known affectionately as Big Yellow in the software circles) wants is for you to submit pictures of objects, people or animals who look like Emoticons! They have some pictures of people who look like Emoticons already — and believe me, some of them are hilarious!!
The competition is designed around their All-in-One Security product Norton 360. I installed Norton 360 on my home computer earlier this year and it is keeping me safe — and making me back-up my data on a regular basis — something that we should all do but ends up being something we never get around to doing — until now!
I love the name “emoticon” because it puts together “emotion” and “icon” into one word. One of my other favorite words is WYSIWYG, by the way — an anacronym that isn’t used only by computer geeks anymore!
You’ve got a couple of months — until October 15th — to get your photos in — so get snapping!

Well, Mig, I’m not a big fan of Symantec, but I have to say this campaign is quite smart! I took a look at the site and loved some of the photos!

There are many Symantec nay-sayers out there, and it’s hard to make the non-believers believe, as the saying goes. But Symantec has changed, for the better! I’m not a tech-head and that’s one of the reasons why Norton 360 is perfect for me. It’s not a bad-rep memory hog like some other security programs, and the User Interface is clean and it’s written in a way that I understand.
