≡ Tiger Woods Accident Search Results May Be Harmful
The “Tiger Woods Accident” is one of the most requested search terms on the web at the moment. And that has given a fresh opportunity for cyber criminals and malware marketers, according to security software vendor Symantec.
“From an IT security point of view this unfortunate incident is just another fruit ripe for the picking as far as malware writers are concerned.
says Symantec employee Hon Lau, writing on their security blog on Saturday. “So it comes as no surprise that the creators of rogue antivirus or misleading application software have already jumped on the bandwagon and attempted to poison web search engine results to take advantage of this spike in web search activity.”
Symantec advises searchers to make sure their internet security software is up-to-date, and to be wary of any site that tries to strong-arm you into buying antivirus software.
